JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates work in the Public Works warehouse, yard and associated buildings. Manages warehouse including oversight of storing, ordering, organizing, rotation, and maintaining adequate inventory of supplies needed to support public works and related agencies. Oversees yard and building issues including environmental, maintenance and operational needs. Oversees repairs and maintenance of related warehouse tools and equipment. Coordinates the Adopt-a-highway program.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three (3) years of related experience and training in a dock or warehouse environment.

Must be forklift certified and obtain CDL license within ninety (90) days of hire.

Must be certified on use of other applicable equipment within sixty (60) days of hire.

A valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah is required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains materials, equipment, storage area, and security of the warehouse.
  • Coordinates service and assistance to employees accessing warehouse and materials.
  • Researches and places orders for products and materials for division, other divisions and related agencies; receives, stores and distributes inventory as needed; inspects and verifies all deliveries and packing slips and invoices for content, condition, pricing and specifications to the original order.
  • Solicits and evaluates new and existing vendors for quality, ability and efficiency.
  • Seeks competitive pricing and working relationships from various vendors.
  • Makes purchasing recommendations to division management which may impact division budget.
  • Pulls and delivers product using, forklifts, carts, trailers and trucks.
  • Co-ordinates "Adopt-A-Highway" program; issues and maintains safety gear and equipment used in cleanup; schedules the collection of the waste gathered for disposal.
  • Maintains and repairs tools and equipment to promote safety and longevity of the tools/equipment.
  • Provides warehouse and yard maintenance and coordination to eliminate safety hazards; organizes stock according to safety and usability best practices; promotes general safey in work areas; follows and oversees OSHA compliance for warehouse and yard activities; maintains OSHA certifications and SDS sheets as needed, and follows safety procedures for storing and stacking inventory.
  • Assists with environmental compliance for the entire public works facility, including yard, warehouse and buildings. This includes storm water issues, sweeping, inlet maintenance, hazardous materials storage, etc.
  • Monitors, inspects and maintains fire extinguishers and coordinates fire extinguisher program with other divisions.
  • Coordinates ice deliveries and ice machine maintenance.
  • Acts as backup in performing clerical functions when needed.
  • Prepares a variety of records and reports in order to track trends, usage and inventory control.
  • Promotes organization and cleanliness in work areas.
  • Trains staff as necessary in the proper methods of material handling; including, forklifts, pallet jacks, tugs, trucks, or other light equipment used to move materials.
  • Coordinates with janitorial contractor for proper supplies and other duties.
  • Performs logistics duties needed and required during an emergency or disaster. Understands and is functional under FEMA incident command structure (ICS).
