JOB SUMMARY
Inspects, documents, maintains construction site records, and reviews construction plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Five (5) years of experience related to concrete, asphalt, soils, or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience substituted on a year by year basis up to a total of six (6) years.
A valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah may be required to operate a vehicle.
Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position. Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) certification within three (3) months of hire date.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Inspects construction projects to ensure engineering plans and specifications are being met.
- Understands, uses, and properly interprets data obtained from various sources. Reads, understands, and interprets project specifications and plans, plan and grade sheets, improvement permit drawings, survey cut/fill notes, and construction hubs and markers relating to grade and alignment of sidewalks, curb and gutter, metal and concrete pipe, and concrete structure installation.
- Inspects placing of concrete, bituminous surface course, untreated base course, borrow and backfill borrow, excavation, placing and backfilling concrete, corrugated material, HDPE and other pipe materials to conform to the requirements of the manufacturer and Salt Lake County Specifications.
- Performs inspections for and enforces SWPPP compliance, ensuring that best management practices are being maintained and deficiencies are remedied. Issues fines for non-compliance.
- Requires, observes, and reviews soil testing and evaluation using nuclear density methods in accordance with ASTM D2922.
- Performs detailed scheduling to insure contractor needs are adequately met and critical inspections are performed.
- Prepare and maintain daily records, drawings, letters and reports.
