JOB SUMMARY

 Performs technical and general maintenance, service, troubleshooting, repair, and installation on HVAC equipment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years of experience with HVAC maintenance of which four (4) years must have been in service and repair.
  •  Graduation from a recognized HVAC training program is preferred.
  • Must possess a current EPA Universal refrigerant certification at time of hire.
  • Must possess a current Rocky Mountain Gas Association (RMGA) certification at time of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah shall be required at the time of hire.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
  • Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position. Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on commercial air conditioning and multi-zoned heating and cooling systems that incorporate pneumatic, digital, and central energy management system
  • Develops heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system modification
  • Researches and selects materials for HVAC systems installation, repair, and
  • Monitors and inspects HVAC systems and
  • Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment to accomplish work
  • Responds to emergency situations during non-regular work

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Heat transfer science including gas laws as they apply to refrigerants, combustion, and air flow
  • Best practices in servicing, repairing, or installing assigned equipment and facilities
  • Electrical, plumbing, ductwork, and other related systems
  • Applicable codes and standards
  • Safety regulations and best practices
  • Read and interpret prints and wiring diagrams
  • Use tools common to the HVAC trade such as electrical meters, torches, diagnostic equipment, and power tools
  • Prioritize, work independently, and foster teamwork
  • Perform effective and efficient maintenance and repair for assigned equipment
  • Apply applicable codes and standards such as EPA regulations and ASHARE guidelines

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

This position requires regular extensive physical labor including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying objects 50 pounds and over, kneeling, bending, standing, walking, and climbing ladders. Work is occasionally performed in confined spaces, in hot or cold environments such as roof tops or equipment rooms, and in noisy environments.
