JOB SUMMARY
Represents the Division of Community Health Services in countywide health education, health promotion and risk reduction programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Health Education, Health Science, Public Health, Early Childhood Education, Community Health, or Behavioral Science and Health with an emphasis in Health Education; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish, and requires reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish fluently.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a County vehicle.
Upon hire, a two-step Tuberculosis skin test will be required. The first will need to be placed prior to starting employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Develops, plans and implements health education, behavior risk reduction, and outreach programs.
• Assesses health education needs and priorities of various populations using appropriate assessment tools.
• Develops, conducts and evaluates the effectiveness of health education/health promotion programs.
• Creates marketing and educational materials; promotes events through various marketing methods.
• Acts as a resource providing linkages to communities.
• Policy development and/or implementation focused on population-based behavior change.
• Develops and prepares required reports and documents.
• Collaborates with internal and community agencies to accomplish stated objectives.
• Acts as a representative of the agency and program.

• Preventive health strategies and risk reduction techniques
• Techniques of effective program planning, development and implementation

SCHEDULE: M-F 8AM - 5PM; with some weekends and after hours work required; 27-29 hours/week
TEMPORARY POSITIONS:
An "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month.
Are "at will" employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing.
Specifically, this position is responsible for:
1) preventing lead exposures through primary prevention practices – “the removal of lead hazards from the environment before a child is lead exposed”
2) linking lead-exposed children and their families to recommended services
3) educating the public, partners, and stakeholders about lead-related issues
4) developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships, which includes but is not limited to agencies that serve children under the age of 6, community-based organizations, healthcare providers, churches, worksite wellness programs, and
5) targeting interventions to high-risk geographic areas and populations.
This position requires travel throughout SL County. Bilingual – Spanish speaking required Funding for this position is available through September 29, 2025 with a possibility to extend beyond that point should monies be available This is a hybrid position (part work from home, part in office, part in the community)
