Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

 Performs marriage, passport, and Notary services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of experience in a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Incumbent must be a Notary Public or obtain Notary Public license within thirty (30) days of hire date. Must be a U.S. citizen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Spanish speaking preferred 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

 

  • Performs marriage licensing
  • Performs passport
  • Performs cashiering duties following County policies and
  • Performs and processes credit card orders and resolves any related customer
  • Provides excellent customer
  • Maintains a current notary certificate and performs public notary
  • Administers oaths of office as an official deputy county clerk
  • Scans, indexes, and transmits marriage licenses and applications to the state office of vital
  • Performs general clerical tasks in support of the Clerk's

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 Knowledge of:

  •  Office technology, equipment, software, and practices and procedures related to job specific duties
  • Customer service techniques and practices
  • Business English and mathematics
  • Cashiering and cash handling
  • Notary law

Skills and Abilities to:

  •  Follow verbal and written procedures and instructions
  • Act independently and as a team member
  • Communicate clearly and effectively verbally, in writing, and publicly
  • Read and interpret State and Federal laws and guidelines associated with marriage and passports
  • Use sound judgment, deductive reasoning, and clarifying questions to effectively assist the public and perform job duties; interact with people in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner
  • Research, interpret, and apply applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations
  • Demonstrate excellent public relations and establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public
  • Organize, prioritize, and accurately complete work in a timely manner and under stress and pressure

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 The work environment is generally fast-paced and demanding, and often requires employees to stand for long periods of time while assisting customers.
