Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

 

Builds and maintains relationships with prospective donors, sponsors, exhibit partners, and community stakeholders. Supports fundraising, cultivates donor stewardship, manages exhibit sales outreach, and assists with public-facing communications and events.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, business, education, or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of related experience OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • Cultivates and manages relationships with current and prospective donors, sponsors, and exhibit clients.
  • Develops donor stewardship plans and supports gift acknowledgments and reporting.
  • Assists in planning and executing donor-related events and outreach campaigns.
  • Maintains donor database and produces regular reports to track engagement and fundraising metrics.
  • Supports sales and coordination of traveling exhibits, including client communication and scheduling.
  • Works closely with the Marketing and Communications Supervisor to align messaging and outreach across development and exhibit sales.
  • Contributes to internal and external communications, including newsletters, email campaigns, and social media updates related to fundraising and partnerships.
  • Represents the Planetarium at events, conferences, and community engagements when appropriate.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 

Knowledge of:

 

  • Nonprofit development, donor relations, or sponsorship sales.
  • Strong communication methods and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Public science institutions or cultural organizations.

  

Skills and Abilities to:

  •  Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage multiple relationships and tasks with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in CRM or donor management software.
  • Work independently with little direct supervision
  • Work in a team environment
  • Establish priorities and follow through with task completion in a timely manner
  • Work on multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining the status for each at a high level
  • Work with a staff of highly diverse personalities
  • Work within budgets to accomplish tasks

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Most work is performed in an office setting. Travel to donor locations

 

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

 

Clark Planetarium is open 363 days a year with operational hours averaging twelve (12) hours a day. Scheduling flexibility is required. Occasional work required during early-morning and/or late-night hours. May be required to work weekends and holidays and travel to conferences.
