IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

 

Shift Details

 

Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

 

May be required to work holidays, nights, and weekends as needed.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Performs semi-skilled maintenance, custodial, landscaping, repair work, as well as courier services.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

One (1) year of experience in fields related to custodial, grounds, or construction maintenance.

 

Must complete IICRC Carpet Cleaning Technician certification course and pass within one year of hire date.

 

A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah may be preferred based on agency needs. In order to operate a County vehicle, a valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah will be required prior to operating a County vehicle.

 

If the incumbent will be operating a County vehicle, the incumbent must complete Defensive Driving Training prior to operating a Company vehicle.

 

Forklift training/certification preferred.

 

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Cleans carpets using scrubbing, extracting, spotting, and replacement techniques.
  • Performs in-depth refinishing of various flooring surfaces.
  • Disassembles, transports, and reassembles different types of office furniture and equipment.
  • Performs general maintenance on custodial equipment.
  • Operates equipment and/or vehicles as job duties require.
  • Performs outside ground maintenance and snow removal.
  • Assists trade personnel in performing diverse construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Performs daily inspections of facilities. Ensures clearance of fire escape routes and trip hazards.
  • Verifies all cleaning procedures and materials are appropriate and comply with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Tracks and maintains chemical and equipment inventory.
  • Performs emergency assignments or other related clean-up requests necessary to provide continuous safety and sanitation.
  • Provides courier services, including pick-up and delivery of US mail and interoffice media for assigned County departments and facilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 

Knowledge of: 

  • Proper safety measures and precautions to take when working in buildings and around the public
  • Basic grounds maintenance and gardening (care of turf, flowers, shrubs, trees, etc.)
  • Safety regulations and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Instructions
  • Proper hand and power tools needed for assigned tasks, their usage, and safety measures when using them

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Operate equipment and/or vehicles as needed related to job-specific duties
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on custodial tools and equipment
  • Perform grounds maintenance and snow removal
  • Assist HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpenters with general labor services when needed
  • Prioritize tasks, independently schedule work, and professionally utilize time while remaining flexible to accommodate needed changes
  • Follow verbal and written procedures and instructions
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Work independently for extended periods of time

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

 

Position requires regularly lifting and carrying between 25 and 100 lbs., standing and walking for extended periods of time, regularly bending and climbing stairs and ladders, and performing manual labor in all weather conditions.
