Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

 

OB SUMMARY

 

Plans, researches, gathers, writes, edits, organizes, and posts web content (text, photos, video) to engage the public and maximize the online user experience. Works with division staff to acquire basic content, conducts web audits, and troubleshoots technical issues in efforts to streamline user experience and maintain online presence with an intuitive user interface across multiple web pages.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Four (4) years’ experience in web content creation or an equivalent combination of related experience and education in Recreation, English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Mass Communications, UX/UL Information Technology or other closely related field.

 

Related web content and design certificates will be considered.

  • Utilizes strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills to write and refresh content on multiple websites within web-based applications used by the division.
  • Assists in image editing for multiple division websites.
  • Maintains brand, website, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
  • Manages and updates third-party web-based applications and points of sale for optimal user interface and experience.
  • Assists in the creation of content optimized for online audiences.
  • Works with other professionals such as the marketing and communications team, web team and division staff to understand program needs, relative to division websites.
  • Writes clear concise and grammatically correct copy.
  • Assists in the new web design transition
  • Trains division staff on website best practices.

  • Web trends and best practices
  • Search engine optimization
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Application Programming Interface (API)
  • Relevant and effective web analysis (audience data, user behavior, conversion rates, real-time reporting)
  • Standard writing practices
  • Writing for the web
  • Proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Electronic writing and digital media production
  • Grammar, editorial writing, writing ethics, and digital media
  • Different language styles that appeal to various target markets
  • Basic design fundamentals and be familiar with digital content management systems.
  • Basic HTML (preferred, but not required)
  • Content management systems (CMS) (training provided)
  • Photo editing software (preferred, but not required)

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public, and other departments or organizations
  • Work under pressure and manage workloads effectively

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Extensive use of the computer
  • Visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
