Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

  

JOB SUMMARY

 

Assists golf professionals in program development, operations, and public relations. Performs assigned fiscal management and record-keeping duties.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Six (6) months of experience in golf course operations, including golf shop duties, under a Class A PGA professional.

 

Demonstrated progress toward fulfilling the requirements for PGA certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, implements, and coordinates assigned golf course programs to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Assists in organizing, conducting, and coordinating golf tournaments and association activities.
  • Assists in developing and coordinating junior golf programs by conducting clinics and special events, providing lessons, and planning and implementing promotional strategies.
  • Promotes and teaches individual and group lessons to help meet course goals.
  • Greets and assists customers in all areas of the course activity courteously and professionally.
  • Assists in making reservations for tee-off times, collecting fees, enforcing course rules and standards of golf etiquette, and monitors the pace of play. Sells golf shop merchandise and completes daily cash forms.
  • Assists in evaluating course programs and facility conditions. Gathers and reports survey and customer data to division administrators.
  • Supervises, trains, and monitors job performance of assigned employees.
  • Monitors the course and facilities for unsafe or other threatening conditions. Identifies and brings safety issues to the attention of management.
  • Routinely monitors existing golf course conditions and evaluates playability.
  • Reports complaints about the course or its programs to the supervisor and takes corrective action.
  • Assists in operating the golf shop in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 

Knowledge of:

 

  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic fundamentals of the golf swing

 

Skills and Abilities to:

 

  • Effectively administer a variety of golfing activities simultaneously
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Supervise the collection, analysis, and interpretation of surveys
  • Supervise and train the work of assigned staff

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Work is primarily performed in a typical golf course clubhouse environment, although this position may occasionally require some physical labor: lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 50 pounds. 

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

 

Work hours may vary, starting as early as 5:00 a.m. and ending as late as 10:00 p.m. The shifts with this position will require working weekends and holidays when the course is open for play.
