Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

 

Position requires being accessible during all operating hours of the facility, being able to respond to emergencies; and occasionally working scheduled overnight and/or weekend hours to accomplish necessary tasks without conflicting with normal business operations.

 

Position may involve travel.

 

This position is very much a working manager role. In addition to leading the internal IT Team and managing projects, tasks and planning calendars, the successful candidate will have the skills, talent and experience to participate in the regular configuration, implementation, troubleshooting and repair of standard and custom technology products, both hardware and software.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Manages and supervises the Division’s Information Technology unit. Responsibilities include systems management for general office systems, servers and LAN systems, POS (point of sale) and integrated inventory systems, membership database, website and other online systems, Participates in management meetings, scheduling, budgeting, operations decisions and related administrative tasks.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in a related field, 6 (six) years’ experience in a related field, including a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or technical certification; experience, education or certifications cannot be substituted for supervisory experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the design, configuration, procurement, installation, maintenance and user training of general office computer systems and peripherals, including desktop systems, laptops, tablets, printers and copiers.
  • Oversees procurement, installation, upgrading and user training of general office software.
  • Manages internal network operations, including hardware, software, cabling and other infrastructure, application and storage servers.
  • Manages and maintains IMAX theatre technology systems, including hardware, software, projectors, audio system, screen and other theatre technology components. Coordinates with technical services to maintain operations, resolve issues, and support routine and emergency maintenance visits.
  • Manages and maintains the Division’s use of the County IOT network, including digital signage systems, media systems and online exhibit systems.
  • Participates in Division project execution and management. Communicates and manages project expectations for team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion through detailed and comprehensive project and communications plans.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement technology-related internal policies and procedures.
  • Supervises IT staff which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning, setting work schedules, and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisals, and discipline.
  • Manages and maintains Division software licensing. Recommends options to minimize expenses and duplications.
  • Participates in annual budget process and meetings to support sub-departments’ technology needs.
  • Maintain and audits the Division’s controlled assets database.
  • Coordinates with County IT sub-departments and staff to manage the Division’s server environments, Active Directory accounts and Distribution Lists.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 

Knowledge of:

 

  • Advanced computer and network hardware configuration (including cable management)
  • Advanced software skills using standard office applications
  • Database management and basic MS-SQL scripting language
  • Basic web design and common social media platforms/outlets
  • Project management principles and practices
  • Supervision and personnel management practices and principles
  • Accounting and budgeting principles
  • Point-of-sale systems and PCI requirements

 

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Troubleshoot problems in a high-stress environment; analyze data and solve problems.
  • Conduct trainings in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and customers in person and via phone, email, SMS and other standard methods.
  • Supervise staff, including training, evaluation and discipline.
  • Manage multiple projects in a team environment.
  • Perform technical proficiency in all classes of technology, software/hardware, and applications.
  • Provide excellent customer service and effective client (internal and external) relations.
  • Follow and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Think logically and systematically, solve complex problems, and effectively apply general principles to specific conditions.
  • Research and evaluate system needs and specifications, and design systems and procedures.
  • Coordinate the efforts of vendors, customers, internal, and external staff.
  • Keep up to date with changing technologies and recommend updates to systems accordingly.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Most work will be conducted in a general office environment. However, certain tasks may require lifting up to 50 lbs.; working on high platforms, ledges, shelves, on scaffolding, ladders and/or rooftops; working in small, cramped spaces such as cabinets, corners and/or under desks; working in dark or dimly lit spaces.
