JOB SUMMARY
Performs routine and basic work in general maintenance, repairs, fabrications, remodeling, and construction, commonly represented by the maintenance and construction trades, in maintaining and upgrading existing facilities, grounds, and equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of experience in related building maintenance and/or construction trade.
A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a county vehicle.
Some Departments may require a current Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Medical Card at the time of hire AND/OR attainment of a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting this position. May be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires extensive physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing over 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance), as well as kneeling, bending, sitting, and standing.
The work involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, smoke, and/or loud noises.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION
Work schedules and hazards vary. May be required to work holidays, nights, weekends, or special events as needed. May be required to work non-typical hours.
The Facilities Department is hiring two full-time Construction & Maintenance Specialist II positions (40 hours per week). One position will focus primarily on painting, and the other will focus on carpentry with an emphasis on cabinetry experience.
