JOB SUMMARY

 

Researches and analyzes website usage to develop UI/UX, personalization, search, and generative engine strategies for the County website. Ensures the website is compliant with Salt Lake County brand guidelines and the latest WCAG standards. Works with web authors for content, testing, personalization, and AI strategies. Develops and maintains web-author training. Designs print and digital collateral as requested, ensuring all work adheres to the Salt Lake County brand guidelines.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Visual Communications or other related field and three (3) years of related experience in web analytics, UI/UX, management, design, accessibility, and branding strategies.

 

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Uses analytics tools to provide reports to each agency identifying potential user pain points and potential enhancements to their content.
  • Develops website strategies for A/B testing, personalization, and user testing.
  • Evaluates upcoming web marketing strategies and ensures the website remains up to date with these strategies.
  • Maintains the County search engine by checking for searches without results and making content more easily discoverable.
  • Monitors the website for accessibility and branding issues, addressing them promptly as they arise.
  • Ensures that user-generated content is well organized, properly named, and is removed when no longer in use.
  • Collaborates with the County branding team to develop print and digital collateral in compliance with the brand book.
  • Assists web authors with day-to-day web content requests, ensuring the content is displayed in an easy-to-consume manner for its intended audience and is designed according to the accessibility/branding guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains training materials for web authors, incorporating best practices, accessibility standards, and branding and oversight guidelines.
  • Keeps content types up to date as they are added, enhanced, or retired.
  • Enforces guidelines set by the Salt Lake County Web Oversight Working Group (WOWG).
  • Collaborates with developers to provide front-end QA and UAT testing, confirming applications are compliant with branding, accessibility, and WOWG guidelines.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 

Knowledge of:

  • Web CMS (preferably Optimizely) operation, administration, and setup (development skills not required)
  • WCAG standards for web accessibility
  • Web trends and best practices
  • Web marketing strategies and trends, such as Search Engine Optimization and Generative Engine Optimization trends
  • Relevant and effective web analysis (audience data, user behavior, heatmaps, click maps, etc.) using tools such as Clarity or Datadog
  • A/B testing, user testing, UI/UX testing, QA testing, and ADA testing
  • Web audience segmentation for web personalization strategies
  • Digital and print-collateral creation
  • Design fundamentals and familiarity with digital content management systems
  • Commercially available AI technology administration and management
  • HTML, CSS, UI/UX design, and web design
