Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements. 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Administers, monitors, supports, and ensures the integrity of databases associated with the software systems used by Fleet Management. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus four (4) years of related experience to include at least one year of fleet-specific experience with emphasis on data and analytics; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

 

  • Maintains and administers databases, software, and websites used within the Division, ensuring collection and importation of data such as fuel transactions, GPS data, and part transactions are accurate into the Fleet Management Information Software and other systems.
  • Assists senior management with data analysis using knowledge of system databases to extract pertinent and useful data and information.
  • Creates ad hoc reports and regularly scheduled reports for Division, other County personnel, and personnel from Fleet’s external contracts using tools such as SQL Query Analyzer, Crystal reports, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Develops, plans, organizes, and presents new data-related solutions, strategies, and processes for use within the Division, ensuring system design, feature implementation, and data reporting follow industry standards throughout the Division.
  • Supervises assigned staff to include hiring, orienting, training, assigning, and reviewing work performance, annual performance appraisal, and discipline. Serves as a mentor and role model for staff.
  • Provides technical support to Division staff on the operation and utilization of Division software systems.
  • Troubleshoots and provides technical support to staff on all computer-related problems and issues.
  • Monitors and determines computer-related hardware needs; purchases hardware as needed.
  • Maintains documented inventory of software and computer-related hardware.
  • Serves as Division liaison with the County Information Services Division.
  • Serves as Division representative on County ITPG (Information Technology Professionals Group) and County Technology Security Committee.
  • Manages cell phones, cellular plans, and mobile device management, as well as Fleet Telematics, and oversees the proper installation of devices with shop supervisors.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

 

Knowledge of:

 

  • Relational database structure, theory, and design principles
  • Computer operating systems, specifically Windows
  • Job-related computer software, applications, and hardware
  • Oracle
  • Crystal Reports or other similar report writer

 

Skills and Abilities to:

 

  • Resolve complicated, detailed, and in-depth issues related to Division software and functions
  • Think analytically and logically to evaluate current processes, identify potential areas of enhancement and improvement, and develop and implement these solutions
  • Ability to follow verbal and written direction, instructions, and assignments from Division senior management
  • Perform effectively in stressful situations
  • Work independently, and complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision
  • Create detailed and explicit written instructions
  • Listen and interpret communications from others at varying levels of technical knowledge and abilities to assist them and resolve issues
  • Interact effectively with a variety of internal and external customers, County I.S. personnel, and vendor support teams for the Division’s software systems
  • Extract and analyze data

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Work duties are typically performed in a general office setting.

Requires occasional time spent in and around Fleet maintenance shops: noise (vehicles and equipment, shop equipment), substances and smells (fuel, solvents, etc. used in equipment maintenance and repairs), temperature variations due to weather and seasons.

Requires occasional lifting (computers, printers, etc.), walking, bending, stooping, and crawling into small spaces as needed.
