JOB SUMMARY

Manages the development, implementation, and day-to-day administration of the Salt Lake County Criminal Justice Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, or closely related field, plus four (4) years of related experience, of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR and equivalent combination of related education and experience.  Education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides day to day program management and coordinates program objectives to achieve strategic goals.
• Supervises assigned staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training assigning, and reviewing work performance, annual performance appraisal and discipline
• Develops, monitors, and assists with the development of data collection and outcome measurement.
• Performs data analysis and evaluation of program quality and effectiveness.
• Develops and maintains strategic professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develops and maintains public outreach and marketing material.
• Writes grants to develop new funding sources.
• Coordinates funding opportunities to maximize use of resources, including matching for Federal and State dollars.
• Works with community leaders and partners to mobilize community support.
• Shares information about best practices and expands collaborative efforts between partners.
• Seeks new funding opportunities for priority areas identified by coordinating bodies.
• Prepares, administers, and monitors program budgets.
• Coordinates meetings and activities for program staff and internal and external stakeholders.
• May oversee recruitment, training, and placement of volunteer staff.
• May recommend updates and new policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is located at the Salt Lake County Jail.  Will work in a secure facility and may have a shared workspace. Some travel to government center and off-site locations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

• Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain jail security clearance.
• Must be able to work various shifts including nights, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays.
